Company History

Antillian Food Services, the parent company of Jammin Island, began its operations in 1993 in the Guanacaste region of NW Costa Rica as a beach concessionaire. Antillian’s first venture was entertaining visiting hotel patrons and locals residents who were confined to the beach area with no organized activities on the immediate hotel properties. We capitalized on this opportunity by creating “Spike” parties, which was based on organized beach volleyball matches accompanied with the sales of delicious BBQ Food and “Spiked” beverages. This concept was an instantaneous success and our efforts attracted the attention of local hoteliers who commissioned more “Spike” parties for their respective patrons.

Our US operations were initiated in 1994 by securing various catering contracts for the Chris Blackwell’s Island Trading Company in Miami, Florida. Over the years we have racked up immense experience and happy customers. In April 2011 Jammin Island Bbq first entered the Washington Nationals baseball park to make our jerk bbq, we had no idea what to expect from the park patrons. The question of whether people would like our jerk bbq or just be passive about it had us on edge. Knowing that Baseball fans are not afraid to express their harsh opinions, we had a lot to prove. With the reputation of “jerk” being the overly spicy, traditional Jamaican dish, Jammin Island BBQ had an arduous task of convincing the baseball public of Nationals Park that it could be done in a way that would be palatable, delicious and worth coming back to the “Islands” again.

Fortunately, with a lot of sampling, amazing customer service and filling portions, Jammin Island BBQ quickly climbed to the top of the favorite’s chart of many fans inside and outside Nationals Park. When people starting buying tickets to the park not to watch the game but to purchase our ribs and chickens, we knew then we had something big.

Over the years we have racked up immense experience and happy customers as We continue to provide delicious food, great customer service and generous portions. Experience a taste of the islands, whether in our ballpark or in your home. It’s that “Jammin” taste that will bring you back to Jammin Island BBQ again and again.
